Portishead are releasing a single called "Chase the Tear", with all earnings going towards Amnesty International's human rights work and all rights given to the organisation.

The five-minute track was previously only available as a download, but is set for a full international release on limited edition 12' vinyl on XL Recordings on 14 November. The vinyl comes backed with a new version of the song by Toronto band Doldrums (www.endlessdoldrums.com). The record will also come with a code to download the MP3 version.

The vinyl release will be available to buy via links on www.amnesty.org.uk/portishead and the usual record stores and online sites, as well as at Portishead live shows.

'Chase the Tear' was originally released in download-only form on 10 December 2009 (International Human Rights Day), with earnings to be donated indefinitely to Amnesty's human rights work. When it emerged in 2009 this was the band's first release for several years, and was met with significant interest by fans and supporters of Amnesty.

'We're extremely lucky to have the support of some incredible artists in all fields, and Portishead's involvement with Amnesty is definitely one we're very proud of.

'Influential artists like Portishead are able to take the human rights message to new audiences and we hope that everyone who picks up a copy of this great song gets involved with our campaigning.'

''Chase the Tear'' is a reference to a paper tear-style 'tear', not a tear from an eye.
